About the Role

Under the supervision of the support services coordinator, our support services members assist other members of the team and community in a wide range of emergency, non-emergency, community events, or support situations. This assistance is vital to the overall operation of the department and successful outcome of many events. The trained support services member may be called upon to move apparatus(per training level), provide medical aid(per credential level), operate on scene rehab units during long duration operations, coordinate or assist management of department events or functions, or assist in public education to the citizens of Randle and surrounding communities. The support services member attends regular drills at station 1 with other members, learning to operate within our group and obtain additional skills. This position is a non-emergent response role that operates outside of the immediate fire scene for those that may not be able to or be capable of first responder duties but still has a desire to serve. We have many different functions and can adapt well to make a fit for your capabilities or level of experience.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age.

  • Must be of good moral character and pass a criminal background check in accordance with our policy.

  • Possess a valid Washington Driver’s License.

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Must obey and comply with Department policies.

  • Live within our response area.

  • Must continue to demonstrate the desire to advance knowledge, skill, abilities, and/or certification through regular attendance of drills and activities within the members specialty.

  • Willingness to perform other duties as deemed necessary and within the members abilities.

Core Abilities

  • Assists in cleaning and inspecting of equipment and apparatus after returning from a fire.

  • Assists inspections of equipment and apparatus and notifies chain of command of any defects.

  • Makes minor repairs to equipment and apparatus, performs routine preventative maintenance tasks, and keeps records of such action.

  • Keeps fire station, equipment and grounds in a clean and orderly condition.

  • Participates in appropriate training activities and instruction sessions.

  • Assists with various public information or education tasks.

  • May assist in entering inspection, training, and call data into the records management system.

  • Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with Department policies and procedures.

  • May interact with other Departments.

  • May provide supportive assistance in emergency and non-emergency calls providing a wide range of public service activities.

  • May be assigned other duties or specialties based on knowledge, skill, and ability.
